MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ - The Middlesex County Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for its 12th Annual Sheriff's Civilian Academy, set to begin this fall, according to the office.

Sessions will cover topics including K-9 operations, transportation, fingerprinting, D.A.R.E., courts, civil process and foreclosures, and participants will tour both the Sheriff's Office and the Main Courthouse in New Brunswick, according to the office.

"The Sheriff's Civilian Academy is a wonderful way for us to reach out to the residents of Middlesex County," Sheriff Scott said. "It is part of our mission to protect and serve the public. Our goal is to give Academy participants a better understanding of the role of the Sheriff's Office that they can take back into their communities."

Applications are due by Aug. 12 and will be used to determine applicant suitability. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, reside in Middlesex County, have no felony convictions, not be wanted for any crime, and pass a limited background check.
