METUCHEN, NJ — The Metuchen Public Library has been awarded $1,622,990 in Library Construction Bond Act funding from the State of New Jersey, Mayor Jonathan M. Busch announced.
"This is a big deal for Metuchen," Busch said.
Because the funding is a matching grant, it will support a nearly $3.25 million investment in renovating and expanding the library's first floor, according to Busch. The project will create more accessible, functional and collaborative spaces while enhancing technology and expanding opportunities for learning and community connection, he said.
"After continuing to advocate for this project as additional funding became available, we're incredibly grateful that Metuchen received this award," Busch said.
The library welcomes more than 100,000 visitors each year, according to Busch.
"Our Library is one of the true cornerstones of our community," Busch said. "This investment will ensure it continues to inspire learning, creativity, and connection for years to come."
