EDISON, NJ — Middlesex County's Plays-in-the-Park community theater will hold auditions for its fall 2026 children's production of "Curious George: The Golden Meatball" on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 6 p.m. at the Stephen J. Capestro Theatre inside Roosevelt Park.
Auditions are seeking actors for the roles of George, the Man with the Yellow Hat, Chef Pisghetti, Phinneas, Netti and Frankie Sidecar. Every actor except George will take on multiple roles throughout the show.
The production follows George's adventure to enter the world-famous Golden Meatball Contest after learning his friend, Chef Pisghetti, has sworn off cooking for good. Performances are scheduled for Oct. 10, 11, 17, 18 and 24.
Participants must be at least 16 years old and should prepare about 16 bars of music to sing, with sheet music in the appropriate key and any cuts marked. An accompanist will be provided. Auditioners should also bring a headshot and resume, if available, along with a list of scheduling conflicts from September through October 2026.
Plays-in-the-Park is a community theater staffed entirely by volunteer performers. Actors of all ethnicities, gender identities, ages and abilities are encouraged to audition.
The theater is located at 1 Pine Drive in Edison. More information on the production and auditions is available at middlesexcountynj.gov/PIP. Questions can be directed to 732-548-2884 or amanda.sorrento@co.middlesex.nj.us.
