• Edison Council Considers Rental Inspection Overhaul (patch.com) — Edison residents and landlords are being asked to weigh in on a proposed overhaul of the township's rental registration and inspection rules at a Sept. 9 council hearing. The ordinance would tighten annual registration and inspection requirements for larger rental buildings, set new fees and penalties, and allow expanded inspections if serious violations are found in a sample of units.
   

• Freehold Man Pleads Guilty to Stabbing on Thanksgiving, Arrested in Edison Last Year (tapinto.net) — Edison residents may recall a major police pursuit last Thanksgiving weekend, when local officers helped capture a Freehold man now pleading guilty to attempted murder and related charges. Prosecutors say he was arrested in Edison after a car chase and foot pursuit, and they'll seek a 10-year prison term when he's sentenced in October.
