METUCHEN, NJ — Live music will fill porches and yards around Metuchen on Saturday, when the borough holds its annual PorchFest.
The free event runs from noon to 6 p.m. If it rains, it moves to Sunday, Oct. 4.
Eighteen local acts are on the lineup, including Maidin, Machines As Tall As Giants, Knifethroat, Almost Heroes, Six To One, Mourning Coffee, The Earth Monkeys Band, Grand Sedan and The Just Cause. The borough says the music will range from rock and folk to jazz and blues.
This year also marks the debut of a Kids Showcase, with performances by The Dastardlys and School of Rock South Plainfield.
Visitors can walk from porch to porch to hear the bands. An interactive map and the full performance schedule are on the borough's PorchFest page at metuchennj.org/porchfest.
The event is presented by the Metuchen Arts Council and Friends of Metuchen Arts, which helped fund the musicians. A volunteer committee organizes it, and Councilwoman Meg Loftus Suchan is the borough's liaison.
