EDISON, NJ — Ready to get back on the ice? Middlesex County is opening up the Roosevelt Park rink for a free night of skating later this month.
The Middlesex County Office of Parks and Recreation is hosting its first Free Ice Skate Night on Monday, Nov. 23, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Roosevelt Park Family Ice Skating Rink, 151 Parsonage Road in Edison.
The event is free and open to the public. Skate rentals are free too.
Visitors can learn about the upcoming ice skating season and enjoy a night of activities, including:
If you plan to take a starter lesson, bring your own helmet. Helmets are required for those lessons, and the rink doesn't sell or rent them.
If the weather doesn't cooperate, the event will move to Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The county asks visitors to call the rink's daily weather hotline at 732-745-4484 before heading over to confirm it's open.
Skaters are encouraged to bring nonperishable food to donate to REPLENISH and Feeding Middlesex County. All donations will go directly to local people and families facing food insecurity, according to the county.
