The man allegedly stole empty beer kegs from two restaurants on Route One.

EDISON, NJ — An Edison man was arrested earlier this month for stealing empty beer kegs from restaurants, Edison Township police said.

Morad Barakat, 35, was arrested on Jan. 16 in connection with two thefts from last year, police said. According to police, Barakat burglarized the Quaker Steak and Lube on Oct. 26, and the Zinburger on Dec. 29. He allegedly stole eight empty metal beer kegs, worth $500, to recycle for cash.

“I commend our Burglary Unit for another fine job during this investigation. The dedicated Detectives within this unit work tirelessly to solve both commercial and residential burglaries throughout our community," Chief Thomas Bryan said in a statement.
