Edison Teen Who Lost Foot In Accident A 'Remarkable Warrior'
Lance Vargas lost his foot after being shocked by high tension wires. Now, the community is raising money for a prosthetic.

EDISON, NJ — The Edison community has continued to support J.P. Stevens student Lance Vargas, who was seriously injured after being shocked by high voltage wires and falling 30 feet. Donations are being collected to help buy the teen, a varsity athlete, a prosthetic foot after his was amputated.
Vargas was climbing a steel railroad trestle behind St. Joseph's High School in Metuchen when he came in contact with high voltage lines in October, police said. He sustained burns over a significant portion of his body, and was in a medically-induced coma for a period of time. Despite attempts to save the limb, including multiple skin grafts, his left foot was recently amputated.
"Despite all this, Lance continues to fight like the remarkable warrior he is. We as a community would like to show our love and support to Lance and the Vargas Family with the gift of a new state-of-the-art prosthetic." the GoFundMe page says. "Lance is an athlete and his dream is to one day continue surfing, swimming, running, & climbing again. This can and will become possible with our support."
