Off-Duty Cop Was Drunk In New Year's Eve Crash: Woodbridge Police
The Highland Park officer is accusing of being drunk when he crashed his car, injuring two in Woodbridge.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — An off-duty Highland Park police officer is accused of driving drunk and injuring two in a New Year's Eve crash, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Director Robert Hubner of the Woodbridge Police Department said.
Norman E. Brown, 44, of Perth Amboy, was charged with assault by auto and driving while intoxicated on Wednesday in relation to the December crash, Carey said.
Brown was driving on the exit ramp from Route 9 onto New Brunswick Ave in the early morning hours of Dec. 31 when he ran a stop sign and crashed into another car, Carey said. The passengers in the second car, a 19-year old from the Fords section of Woodbridge, and a 22-year old from Perth Amboy were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

One passenger was airlifted because her injuries were so severe, Carey said.
Brown was off-duty at the time, Carey said. Patch has reached out to the Highland Park Police Department for more information.

Brown's first court date is March 1.
