Edison Cancels Holiday Lighting Ceremonies Due To COVID
The Christmas Tree, Menorah and Holiday Tree will be lit, but there will be no public ceremony or events around it.
EDISON, NJ — Edison Township on Monday announced it was cancelling it Holiday lighting ceremonies due to the spike in COVID-19 cases across the state and in town.
The Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony was initially scheduled for 7 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the Heritage, 1015 Amboy Avenue.

Other lighting ceremonies that now stand cancelled are:
- The Menorah Lighting at the Edison Jewish Community Center originally scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 15.
- The Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park.
Although the Christmas Tree, Menorah and Holiday Tree will be lit, there will be no public ceremony or events around it due to “Executive Order limiting the number of people permitted to attend outdoor gatherings.”

Last week, Gov. Phil Murphy announced limits to indoor and outdoor gatherings, due to the spike in coronavirus cases.
New Jersey reduced limits on indoor gatherings from 25 to 10 people, and on outdoor gatherings from 500 to 150 people.
