EDISON, NJ — A working fire ripped through a two-story residential apartment complex on Judson Street Wednesday morning, displacing three families and injuring a firefighter who fell through the roof during suppression efforts, officials said.
Units were dispatched at approximately 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, with Engine 1 arriving first and stretching supply and attack lines to begin fire suppression. A second alarm brought additional engines, trucks and rescue units to the scene.
During firefighting operations, one firefighter fell through the roof and was quickly removed by personnel on scene before being taken to a local hospital, according to Edison NJ Firefighters IAFF Local 1197. The firefighter was treated and is in good condition, the union said.
