Edison Man Guilty In International Phone Scam Targeting Seniors
Prosecutors say the man scammed senior citizens out of $23,000.

EDISON, NJ — An Edison man has pleaded guilty to taking part in an international phone scam targeting senior citizens, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said.
Mohammed Alam, 25, plead guilty to theft of movable property on Thursday, Carey said. Under a plea deal, he'll face probation and must pay back the $25,000 stolen from the victims.
According to Knapp, Alam worked with an Indian call center to use his company, the Edison-based Infusion Micro LLC, to call senior citizens. The callers would claim they were with Microsoft and needed to remotely access computers to fix problems.
