Edison Police Crackdown On Street Racing And Speeding

Last week, officers conducted a total of 139 motor vehicle stops and issued several summonses, police said.

EDISON, NJ — The Edison Police Department announced Wednesday it was cracking down on street racing and speeding on township roads.

Last Thursday and Friday, the police department's Traffic Unit and the COP Unit adjusted their hours to look into racing and speeding.

During an eight-hour period each night, officers conducted a total of 139 motor vehicle stops and issued several summonses as well as verbal warnings, police said.

This enhanced traffic enforcement was run in collaboration with North Brunswick Police who also had additional units out on those evenings. Police will continue to conduct enforcement details periodically, to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians, authorities said.
