Edison Public Library Announces New Reopening Timings

EDISON, NJ: Edison Township Public Library on Thursday announced a new reopening schedule for all three public libraries, beginning Sep. 8.

The library will be open to the public, but no seating and study tables will be available, and patrons will have to check out their material. The library said that all returning material will be quarantined for 72 hours.

The public will have to follow safety guidelines to access the building. Entrance and exit will be only through designated doors. The library staff will monitor access and control the number of people inside the building.

Masks are mandatory while inside the building and social distancing rules apply at all times. Only those with library cards can enter the building.

Services will be limited to selecting books and media and asking reference questions. Access to computers and copier is still unavailable, until further notice.

No public meetings will be held at any of the branches at least through Nov.30.

Here are the new hours for all three branches.

Main Library, at 340 Plainfield Avenue:

• Monday: 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
• Tuesday: 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
• Wednesday: 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
• Thursday: 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
• Friday: 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Saturday: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

North Edison branch, at 777 Grove Avenue:

• Monday: 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
• Tuesday: 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
• Wednesday: 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
• Thursday: 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
• Friday: 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Saturday: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Clara Barton branch, at 141 Hoover Avenue:

• Monday: closed
• Tuesday: 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
• Wednesday: 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
• Thursday: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• Friday: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• Saturday: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
