Edison To Raise Flag In Honor Of Mexican Independence Day
The ceremony will be held Friday at 3 p.m. outside the Municipal Complex.
EDISON, NJ – The Township of Edison will be hosting a flag-raising ceremony on Friday to honor Mexico’s Independence Day.
The ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. outside the Municipal complex. Mayor Sam Joshi, Councilmembers and community leaders are expected to be in attendance.
On Friday, Mexicans across the globe will celebrate the anniversary of their independence from Spain. Sept. 16 marks the day in 1810 when Catholic priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla made the first call for independence.

Last month, the Township celebrated India and Pakistan’s Independence Day by raising the flag of both countries on different days.
Also on Friday, the township will host a remembrance ceremony for prisoners of war and those missing in action. The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at the Municipal Complex.
