Edison Schedules Juneteenth Celebration On Saturday
The Grand Marshal this year will be Dr. Opal Lee.
EDISON, NJ — The township will be hosting a Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday at the Edison Job Corps, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The Grand Marshal for this year's celebration will be Dr. Opal Lee, famously known as the "grandmother of the Juneteenth Movement." Lee has long advocated for making Juneteenth a national holiday.
This will be Lee's first visit to the township, according to Edison officials.

Sponsored by the NAACP Metuchen-Edison-Piscataway Branch, the celebration will include live performances, a DJ, vendors, a basketball tournament, food trucks, a children's zone and bike give-away, a health and wellness zone as well as voter registration.
