Edison Star Student Overcame Obstacles To Become An Entrepreneur
Here's why a local 1st grader was given a shout-out:

EDISON, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Stephenie who nominated Natalie (1st Grade) of Edison-Metuchen. Stephenie is Natalie's parent and says the student has become an entrepreneur after learning skills from her Girl Scouts troop.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Natalie has worked very hard inside and outside of school. She has had many obstacles and challenges this year, and she has relentlessly stood right back up to overcome them. Along with her Girl Scout Daisy troop, she has participated in different community events, learning about giving to the poor and has even become an entrepreneur after learning about business skills from the cookie season. Natalie started her own business last year and runs her own online boutique called Nattie’s Boutique, where she sells small toys, and cute stationery and raises money to donate to two different charities and events. She works very hard to learn different languages and has competed and represented her Chinese school in speech competitions. Every spring, Natalie raises caterpillars for a few weeks and takes care of them until they are ready to fly away as butterflies. She knows that these butterflies will help the environment. She even presented about butterflies in a recent 4-H Public Speaking event this May. Natalie also became one of the state finalist in the National American Miss New Jersey Princess Pageant to be held August 4-5, 2023. Natalie has many hobbies, such as reading, piano, playing with her younger brother, chess, building robots, playing tennis, golf, baseball, swimming and building Legos.
