Edison's Mayor Joins Empire State Building's India Day Lighting

EDISON, NJ — Edison Mayor Sam Joshi has been invited to take part in the ceremonial lighting of the Empire State Building in the colors of the Indian tricolor on Friday.

The event marks the 44th Annual India Day, honoring this year's theme, "Harmony in Heritage," which recognizes the shared traditions, values, and contributions that connect the Indian-American community to the United States.

"The Empire State Building represents the contributions of the Indian-American community to the tri-state area," Joshi said. "From healthcare, local businesses, technological advancements, and more, this opportunity celebrates the many cultures, traditions, and stories that bring communities together."

Joshi's participation follows his recent role as part of the Prime Minister of India's welcome delegation and his appearance alongside former Gov. Phil Murphy during the Choose New Jersey India Economic Mission.

"It bears double the joy to celebrate 250 years of America along with 80 years of India," said Ankur Vaidya, chairman of the Federation of Indian Associations. "What an iconic start to the festivities, with the pride of our community, Mayor Sam Joshi, doing the honors."

The ceremonial lighting is organized by the Federation of Indian Associations.
