EDISON, NJ — At a special meeting held last week, the school board unanimously voted to appoint Edward Aldarelli as the next Superintendent of Edison Township School District.
Aldarelli was Edison’s Acting Superintendent since Dec. 1, 2022 when Bernard Bragen left the school district for Virginia.
Three other candidates were shortlisted for the position before the Board conducted interviews and finally selected Aldarelli for the post.

“The candidates we interviewed were really very, very good. The job the search firm did was really awesome; the job the subcommittee did was very good,” said Board member Biral Patel. “We already have Dr. Aldarelli who is already a rock star since over six months now. So there was no doubt that he would not be the person to continue this job.
Board member Mohin Patel echoed Patel saying the subcommittee did a great job bringing together great candidates to interview for the post.

“It’s a tough job that you’re going to be stepping into," Mohin Patel told Aldarelli. "You already know what to do and you already know what the issues are with this town and this school district. So I would welcome you aboard again.”
After the unanimous vote to appoint him, Aldarelli said he was “overwhelmed” and thanked his team for supporting him.
“I want to thank the Board for trusting me in stewarding their vision they have for this entire district, the responsibility we have to our students, to our staff, our community members, our stakeholders,” Aldarelli said.
“I couldn’t have been successful at this point without an unbelievable team that I have behind me. And I promise that I will do my best to deliver the highest level of education this community deserves. I look forward to partnering with all of our teachers, our community members and everybody in a shared vision. We can only do great things together.”
Aldarelli joined the school district in October 2020 as the Director of Human Resources. He then transitioned to his role as Acting Superintendent in December 2022.
He has over 25 years of experience in public education, beginning his career as an elementary and middle school classroom teacher.
Aldarelli's administrative career began as the Vice Principal of the Adelphia Elementary School in Howell Township. He then became principal of West Freehold School in Freehold Township.
Aldarelli has a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Saint Peter’s University.
