Fatal Stabbing Of Edison Resident Leads To Murder Charge: Prosecutor

This was not a random act of violence, authorities said. Rahmaad Howard of New Brunswick knew the victim, Barry James.

EDISON, NJ – A New Brunswick man has been charged in connection with fatally stabbing a 36-year-old Edison man on Monday, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Director Anthony A. Caputo of the New Brunswick Police Department said.

On Sept. 12, around 6:29 a.m., authorities responded to the area of Throop Avenue and Townsend Street following the report of a stabbing. On arrival, officers found Barry James, 36, of Edison, who sustained multiple stab wounds. James succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital, police said.

An investigation led by Detective Raymond Quick of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Walter Kelley of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office identified Rahmaad Howard, 34, of New Brunswick as the perpetrator, Ciccone said.

Howard has been charged with one count of first-degree Murder and one count of third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
