Fire Leaves Edison Home Temporarily Uninhabitable On Monday
Damage from the fire, smoke and water left the home uninhabitable.

EDISON, NJ — An Edison home was badly damaged in a Monday afternoon fire, Edison officials said.
The fire broke out at 19 Phillips Road around 2:30 p.m., fire Capt. Andy Toth said. Flames were bursting through the roof of the split-level ranch.
Firefighters from Edison, Islen, New Brunswick and South Plainfield all responded and extinguished the flames, but damage from the fire, smoke and water left the home temporarily uninhabitable.

The family that lived in the house was not home at the time. One Edison firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
