Guru Vandana (Teacher's Appreciation) 2026 Celebrated with Gratitude and Cultural Splendour.

Edison Chapter of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, under its program, Hindu Education Foundation organized Guru Vandana – Teacher’s Appreciation Day 2026. It was held with great enthusiasm and reverence, bringing together teachers, students, parents, community leaders and volunteers for an evening dedicated to honouring the invaluable role of educators in shaping society.
The event commenced with a warm welcome by Radhika ji, who explained the significance of Guru Vandana, “Guru” means teacher or spiritual guide, while “Vandana” signifies salutations and gratitude. She also introduced the evening’s emcees, Garima ji and Krutika, who gracefully conducted the program.
The gathering began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by an inspiring introduction to the deeper meaning of the Guru in both Hindu philosophy and modern education. The speakers highlighted how teachers not only impart knowledge but also shape character, inspire confidence, and guide students toward meaningful lives. References to renowned personalities such as Abraham Lincoln and Albert Einstein underscored the lifelong influence of mentors and teachers.

A traditional lamp-lighting ceremony marked the auspicious beginning of the cultural segment. Distinguished guests including Edison Board of Education members Mr. Jingwei “Jerry” Shi and Ms. Anjana Patel participated in the ceremony, symbolizing the spreading of knowledge and wisdom.

The audience was then treated to a series of vibrant cultural performances by children. Young participants beautifully recited Saraswati shlokas and Bhagavad Gita verses, invoking blessings for wisdom and learning. This was followed by a devotional bhajan celebrating Lord Krishna and an energetic dance performance that captivated the audience. A thoughtful skit presented by the children creatively portrayed the curiosity of young minds and the guiding role teachers play in transforming questions into understanding and wisdom.

The event also featured an informative presentation about HSS and its values-based community initiatives. Organizers highlighted the year’s theme, “Krishna – My Sarathi,” emphasizing self-discovery, character building, and spiritual guidance inspired by Lord Krishna’s teachings.

Adding a joyful and interactive touch to the evening, games and recreational activities were conducted for attendees, creating a lively atmosphere of bonding and celebration.

The highlight of the evening was the formal Guru Vandana honouring ceremony dedicated to teachers. Students welcomed teachers with traditional Hindu customs including applying tilak, performing aarti and seeking blessings by respectfully touching their teachers’ feet. The ceremony reflected the timeless Indian tradition of expressing gratitude toward educators.

More than a dozen teachers from various schools and educational backgrounds were honoured during the event. The organizers also warmly recognized the contributions of Board of Education members and community educators for their service and dedication.
Several teachers and guests shared heartfelt reflections during the program. Mr. Jerry Shi appreciated the event for preserving cultural values and reinforcing respect for teachers and traditions. Teachers expressed gratitude for the thoughtful recognition and the meaningful cultural experience
The evening concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Gulshan ji, who acknowledged the efforts of volunteers, participants, parents, and teachers in making the event a grand success. Guests were later invited to enjoy Indian cultural activities including saree draping, rangoli, henna art, a photo booth and a traditional Indian dinner.


Guru Vandana 2026 successfully celebrated the spirit of gratitude, culture, and education, leaving attendees with cherished memories and renewed appreciation for the guiding light that teachers bring into society.
