Man Attempted To Steal Bicycles At Metuchen Train Station, Charged: PD
Jose Juarez-Lopez of Jersey City was charged with two counts of criminal attempt, theft, criminal mischief and other offenses, police said.
METUCHEN, NJ — Jersey City man was charged with theft, criminal mischief and other offenses after he attempted to steal bicycles at the Metuchen train station, police said.
On Oct. 27, 2022, authorities said a man was seen at the bicycle racks near the train station smashing bicycle locks with a large rock.
When police arrived, they found the man matched the description given by witnesses.

Jose Juarez-Lopez, 44, of Jersey City was taken into custody after admitting to smashing a bicycle lock with a piece of concrete, police said.
Police said witnesses helped patrol locate multiple bicycles that had their locks smashed. Some bicycles were unable to be secured and were taken to headquarters as found property.

Juarez-Lopez was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of criminal attempt, theft and two counts of criminal mischief.
He was also found to have multiple active warrants from other jurisdictions, police said.
