Man Fatally Shot By Police In Edison Tuesday: Attorney General

Two Edison Police officers fatally shot a man at a Judson Street residence. The AG's office is investigating the shooting

EDISON, NJ — A man was fatally shot by two Edison Police officers on Tuesday evening, Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin said Wednesday. The identity of the man was not released.

Edison Police Officers were called to a residence on Judson Street, where they encountered the man, Platkin said.

“During the encounter, two officers discharged their service weapon, fatally wounding the individual. A sharp edged weapon was recovered near the decedent,” Platkin said.

Officers and emergency medical personnel rendered first aid to the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:41 p.m., authorities said.

The AG’s office is investigating the shooting, pursuant to Attorney General Directive 2019-4, which implements the statutory requirement that the AG’s office conducts an investigation into any death that occurs during an encounter with a law enforcement officer.
