Man Indicted On Charges Of Transporting Stolen Jewelry From Edison
The jewelry was stolen from a store at a shopping center in Edison, authorities said.
EDISON, NJ – A man from Brooklyn, NY was indicted on charges of transporting stolen jewelry from Edison, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said Tuesday.
Tony Newton, 63, was charged with two counts of interstate transportation of stolen goods.
Newton was charged by a criminal complaint in July 2022. The jewelry was stolen from a store at a shopping center in Edison.

On June 1, 2022, and July 16, 2022, Newton transported stolen jewelry across state lines from Middlesex County and Union County to New York, according to court documents.
Each count of interstate transportation of stolen goods is punishable by a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and $250,000 fine.
