Metuchen Mourns Death Of Former Borough Administrator
William E. Boerth served as borough administrator for over 23 years, retiring in 2014. He died July 7, at age 70.
METUCHEN, NJ – Former borough administrator William E. Boerth, died on July 7 at the age of 70, Mayor Jonathan Busch said in a Facebook post
“Mr. Boerth served Metuchen for nearly 24 years in this role, from 1991 to 2014, and gave so much of himself to our community,” Busch said.
“The Borough sends its deepest condolences to the Boerth family.”

A resident of Chesterfield, Boerth was born in Fargo, North Dakota. He graduated from United States Military Academy at West Point in 1973, according to his obituary.
Boerth served in the army and following his service, returned to Fargo to work in the family business. He then became interested in local government and was appointed to several committees. During this time, he continued his higher education

He received his Master's Degree in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Boerth served as the Town Administrator for Tisbury, Massachusetts, on Martha's Vineyard, and as Borough Administrator for Atlantic Highlands and Metuchen.
According to his obituary, Boerth was an active participant in Civil War reenactments. He was a member of the 1st Marine Cavalry Unit and the 3rd New Jersey Volunteers.
