Metuchen Women Charged In Connection With Heroin Death: Police

A Union County man was also charged in connection to the fatal overdose.

ELIZABETH, NJ — A Union County man and a Metuchen woman were charged in connection with a fatal heroin overdose death in Flemington last month, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III announced.

Richard Deo, 37, of Elizabeth was charged with first degree strict liability for a drug induced death, in connection with a fatal overdose death that occurred in Flemington on Jan. 27. He was also charged with two counts of third degree conspiracy to distribute heroin, two counts of third degree distribution of heroin and third degree possession of cocaine.

Nicole Warren, 36, of Metuchen was also charged with two counts of third degree conspiracy to distribute heroin.

"The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office will continue to use all resources available to seek out and prosecute those who deal or distribute drugs in Hunterdon County. We have witnessed too many deaths and too much pain caused by the terrible drug epidemic that has swept this country. Those responsible for dealing drugs that result in a fatal overdose will be brought to justice and prosecuted," Kearns said.

Deo faces 10 to 20 years in state prison and is currently being held in the Somerset County Jail since his arrest on Feb. 2.
