Middlesex College Erases $I.8M In Student Debt Using COVID Funds
The college will forgive student debt using federal COVID-19 relief funds. Over 2,300 students will be impacted by this move.
EDISON, NJ — The Middlesex College will forgive around $1.8 million in student debt incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, the college announced.
Over 2,300 students will be impacted by this move. Under the program, balances incurred from March 2020 through summer 2021 will be forgiven, the college said. This will give them the flexibility to enroll in more programs. A similar initiative is also in place to forgive a limited amount of campus fines including library and parking tickets.
Middlesex College’s Student Debt Amnesty program was made possible by the American Rescue Plan, which was passed by Congress earlier this year to address the economic and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
