Former Stop & Shop In Edison Reborn As Indian-American Supermarket
The 50,000-square-foot store pairs American grocery staples with Indian foods, plus an in-house Indian kitchen.
EDISON, NJ — The Edison storefront that has sat empty since Stop & Shop closed two years ago is set to officially reopen as a new supermarket this week.
Go Pal Supermarket will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at 1083 Inman Ave. The store anchors the Inman Grove Shopping Center, at the corner of Grove and Inman avenues.

As Patch previously reported, the Inman Avenue Stop & Shop closed in October 2024. It was one of two Edison locations the chain shut down, along with its Route 1 South store, as part of a wave of closures of what the company called underperforming stores across the Northeast.
The roughly 50,000-square-foot store mixes traditional American grocery items with a large selection of Indian foods and specialty products. According to the company, the concept is aimed at multigenerational families, young professionals and the area’s diverse community.

The store also offers freshly made sushi, meat, seafood and grab-and-go meals.
A dedicated Indian kitchen is one of the store’s main features. It will serve traditional Indian snacks, freshly made entrées and rotis. The aisles will also carry a wide range of Indian groceries, ingredients and specialty items alongside everyday American staples.
Other departments include dairy, frozen foods, a floral section and full-service catering.
Beyond food, the store will stock baby products, beauty and personal care items, health and wellness products, household supplies and pet products.
Shoppers can order online or by phone, with home delivery and pickup available. Go Pal will also offer a loyalty and club card program and accept applicable food assistance programs.
Go Pal Supermarket is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
