New Metuchen Mayor Sworn In

Jonathan Busch was sworn in at Monday night's Borough Council meeting.

METUCHEN, NJ — Jonathan Busch was sworn in as the new Mayor of Metuchen Monday night, after the previous mayor resigned to join the upcoming Murphy administration.

Busch, a Democrat, was appointed by the Borough Council. He works as an education law attorney, and represents 25 local public school districts.

The previous mayor, Pete Cammarano, announced his resignation earlier this month after being named Governor-elect Phil Murphy's Chief of Staff. Council President Ronald Grayzel served as interim mayor for the past two weeks.

According to the Metuchen Democrats:

Jonathan is also a Main Street business owner and the founding member of The Busch Law Group LLC, which has 12 employees. The firm is a proud member of the Metuchen Chamber of Commerce and the Metuchen Downtown Alliance. As Mayor, Jonathan hopes to continue the incredible progress that has been made over the last few years with continuing efforts toward establishing an even more welcoming, walkable and inclusive Borough. Additionally, Jonathan volunteers extensively throughout the Metuchen community. He serves as a Vice President and Executive Board Member for Metuchen Baseball and Softball, an Executive Board Member for the Fuce 5K Foundation, and Chairman of the Metuchen Democratic Organization. As Chairman, Jonathan has embraced an inclusive local political party. He is a strong advocate for transparency, open meetings, and opportunities for civic engagement and discourse among Metuchen residents.

Busch holds a J.D. from Rutgers University, a M.A. from Columbia University, and a B.A. from University of Maryland. He lives in the Borough with his wife, Kathy, and their three school-aged children.
