New Mexican Restaurant Is Coming To Downtown Metuchen

METUCHEN, NJ — MexiModo: Modern Cocina & Bar is all set to bring its vibrant dining experience to downtown Metuchen.

MexiModo will occupy the large space at The Shops at Woodmont Metro, Mayor Jonathan M Busch said Thursday. The restaurant will have complete indoor, outdoor, and bar seating with a lounge, and to-go offerings. They will also feature the “largest selection of tequila in New Jersey.”

MexiModo will be joining other new tenants in the area including Hatch 44, Cinnaholic, Soul Bowl and Awesome Yo.

“This is a transitional phase for this area,” Busch said at a press conference. “Six months to a year from now this area is going to be completely transformed.”

The restaurant is expected to open in 2023.

The owners of MexiModo also operate Le Malt Lounge in Colonia and Le Malte Royale in Red Bank.

The restaurant is expected to use fresh ingredients available from Metuchen’s Farmer’s Market and will have a large chalk wall for children.

Additionally, they expect to use a branded taco truck to sell tacos and ice cream and hire performance artists to increase engagement during Plaza events.
