Passengers In Critical Condition After Route 1 Crash In Edison

The investigation is active and continuing and authorities are seeking information and surveillance footage.

EDISON, NJ — Passengers of a vehicle were critical injuries after a crash on Route 1 Sunday, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edison Police Department said.

Around 2:07 a.m. Sunday, authorities responded to Route 1 and Wooding Avenue following the report of a crash. On their arrival, officers found two vehicles — one vehicle’s passengers sustained minor injuries, the other vehicle’s passengers were in critical condition and were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.

According to initial investigation, the vehicle that caused the crash was driving northbound on Route 1 when the driver attempted to make a U-turn at the median break for Wooding Avenue, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Route 1.
