Road Worker Killed On Rt. 1 North In Edison
Police said the man was in the crosswalk when he was struck early this morning.

EDISON, NJ — A road worker was killed in an early morning accident on Route 1 north in Edison, police said.
A 62-year-old Riverdale man was crossing Route 1 in the crosswalk when he was struck by an SUV at 4:40 a.m. Friday, Edison Sgt. David Stern. He was the employee of a company hired by the state to paint markings on a freshly paved section of the road.
The driver, a 52-year-old Morrisville, Pennsylvania man has not been charged, Stern said, but the investigation is ongoing.

Police did not release either man's name.
The accident closed all lanes of Route 1 north in Edison for three hours Friday morning, the Department of Transportation said. As of 8:20 a.m., they have reopened.
