South Plainfield MVC Opening Pushed Back

The new MVC location was supposed to open on May 14, but that has been pushed back.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ — Central Jersey residents looking forward to the return of a South Plainfield MVC location will have to wait a little longer: the projected May 14 opening has been pushed back to late May or early June, a DMV representative told Patch. No reason was given for the delay.

The new MVC location will open at 5000 Hadley Avenue, near Middlesex Mall. The opening comes two years after a location near the Unique on Oak Tree Road shuttered when the landlord declines to renew the lease.

Local officials applauded the new MVC when it was announced last month.

"I must complement the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission for ending this potential crisis and express my appreciation for their resolve in re-establishing an office in South Plainfield as one of their top priorities," State Senator Patrick Diegnan said. "My colleagues, Nancy Pinkin and Robert Karabinchak, and my constituents have been as adamant as I have been about re-opening a South Plainfield location and I look forward to the ribbon cutting."
