Special-Needs School Bus Gets Into Accident In Edison

A special-needs school bus, carrying three people, including a 4-year-old, collided with a car Friday morning on Mill Road in Edison.

EDISON, NJ — A special-needs school bus, carrying three people, including a 4-year-old child, collided with a car Friday morning at Mill Road and Horizon Drive in Edison, police said.

Aboard the special-needs bus, privately owned by Barker Bus Co. of Bridgewater, was its driver, a 49-year-old bus aide and the child. Their identities, and the identity of the other motorist, were unavailable for release, police said.

Police said neither the school bus occupants or the car’s driver were injured. The bus aid
complained of minor pain and EMTs examined him at the scene after the 8:20 a.m. collision, but
he was not hospitalized.

Police said the bus and the car were both damaged and had to be towed from the scene.

The accident is still under investigation, but responding Officer Erwin Enriquez issued a summons to the car’s driver for failure to yield at an intersection. Other charges may result based on the outcome of the police investigation.
