St. Joe’s Metuchen To Host 1st Home Night Game In School History

This year's Homecoming Weekend will include the Falcon Fall Fest and the school's first Friday Night Lights.

METUCHEN, NJ — St. Joseph High School’s Brenner Family Field will host its first football game in school history this fall.

The Falcons will host Edison High School on Oct. 7, to launch the school’s third annual Homecoming Weekend. The weekend will also include the Falcon Fall Fest.

“For a school with such a rich athletic history, it is about time that we participate in one of the oldest traditions in high school sports, Friday Night Lights,” St. Joseph High School President John G. Nolan, Jr. said in a statement.

“What better way to showcase our campus and revamped football program to our alumni and the greater Metuchen/Edison community than by hosting our first ever night game.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with a pregame Alumni & Friends tailgate. Food and drinks will be available for purchase from the Saint Joe’s Fathers Club. There will also be a special selection of school gear available throughout the night.

“High school football in New Jersey has become synonymous with Friday nights in the Fall,” Athletic Director Michael Murray said. “We are excited to bring this tradition to Saint Joe’s and can’t wait to showcase our football and athletics program to the community in what hopefully will become a tradition.”

To celebrate the homecoming weekend, the school’s 70-acre campus will be transformed into Saint Joe’s Falcon Fall Fest, where families can enjoy Fall-related activities.

The Falcon Fall Fest will include a pumpkin patch, plant and foliage sale, hayrides around the campus and scenic Fall picture displays.

Campus tours will be available to all. Alumni who attend the Falcon Fall Fest can visit the Alumni Tent for lunch. Fall food and snacks will be available for purchase throughout the day.

“We are very excited to be expanding our Homecoming Weekend to include our first Friday Night Lights and Falcon Fall Fest,” John Eppensteiner ‘02, Saint Joseph High School’s Director of Alumni Relations, said. “Without our alumni and community partners, Saint Joe’s wouldn’t be who we are today. We look forward to connecting with alums from the past 60 years and to showcase the rich history of the school.”

The school’s soccer team will also be playing on Monday, Oct. 10 against Old Bridge.

The events held on campus are open to the public.
