Student-Athlete From Edison Nominated For Heart Of A Giant Award
The award is presented annually by the New York Giants and Hospital for Special Surgery.

EDISON, NJ — A John P. Stevens High School student-athlete has been nominated for the 2022 USA Football’s Heart of a Giant Award.
Marcella Iversen was nominated for the award alongside other tri-state area high school football players. The award is presented by the New York Giants and Hospital for Special Surgery.
Iversen, like other student-athletes, was nominated by the coach for their “commitment, teamwork, will, character and dedication.”

Iversen uses football is an outlet to overcome the obstacles in her life. The port has brought her confidence and helped her bond better with her parents, she told USA Football.
With a weighted GPA of 3.9, Iversen is the captain of the football team and in her spare time like to help local food banks and animal shelters.

There will be six weekly finalists and five wild card finalists, leading to a total of 11 honorees.
Each finalist will receive $1,000 for their high school’s football program, with the grand prize winner’s school getting an additional $10,000.
The grand prize winner will be selected based on video submissions stating why they have the Heart of a Giant.
