Verizon Employee Robbed; Teens Steal Purse: Metuchen Police
Police charged 3 juveniles for taking a purse, helped a Verizon employee who'd been robbed, and arrested a local burglary suspect recently.
METUCHEN, NJ — In the past week, Metuchen Police say they have made four burglary arrests, including three juveniles. They also said they are investigating after a Verizon Wireless employee said a man stole her wallet while she was working.
Tuesday, police shared three news releases on Facebook about recent crime in the borough.
On July 13, a man stole a Verizon Wireless employee's wallet around 1:30 p.m. on High Street near Franco Manufacturing, police said. The worker was testing cell phone towers. The man approached her while she was outside her vehicle and demanded she give him the wallet. He got in a physical struggle with the woman and took it, police said.

Police also arrested a Metuchen man for an attempted burglary on July 13, a post said. A woman was inside her home on Amboy Avenue when she heard a noise, and noticed a window was open and the blinds were moving.
She left the house and called police, who arrested 28-year-old Kashon Davis after an investigation.
"Mr. Davis is also the suspect in other burglaries that occurred in the area," Metuchen police said. "Charges are pending further evidence."
And on July 18, a Metuchen resident was shopping when she saw three juveniles running away from her car with her purse. Police found the juveniles, who were visiting a friend from New York City, with the purse and charged them with burglary, theft, and criminal attempt.
