Youth and Community Leaders Unite for Climate Action at Street Fair

The local chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby celebrated Earth Day at several events this spring, including the Highland Park Street Fair on May 3rd. The Highland Park Street Fair event was one of more than 500 outreach events that Citizens’ Climate Lobby chapters supported this spring across the nation in honor of Earth Day.

Lincroft CCL chapter members, including Tanisi Sahai of Edison and Jeanne Boyle of Metuchen, talked to local residents about climate advocacy and also collected constituent letters to go to our Members of Congress. Tanisi, Jeanne, and other local CCL volunteers work to increase support for climate action and to show Congressman Pallone, Senator Booker, and Senator Kim that the community is eager for Congress to pass effective climate legislation. Tanisi is also part of the CCL National Youth Action Outreach Team, where she helps youth nationwide get involved in climate advocacy.

Tanisi says: “Talking to people at the Highland Park Street Fair really showed me how open people are to meaningful conversation and collaborative solutions. It reminded me that climate advocacy isn’t just about policy, it’s about building connections within the community and helping people feel empowered to create change together.”
