ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ — If you have been putting off a trip to the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, the agency is bringing services closer to home.
The MVC Mobile Unit will return to Englewood Cliffs on Aug. 27, giving residents a chance to handle transactions at the EC Community Center, 488 Hudson Terrace. The unit will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and stationed on the Community Center apron along Hudson Terrace.
The visit comes courtesy of Mayor Mark M. Park, the Municipal Council and the Englewood Cliffs Police Department. Borough officials said the event will let residents complete MVC business "right here in town."
Appointments are required for REAL ID applications, registration renewals, initial permits, non-driver identification cards, and duplicate or replacement titles or registrations. Online booking opens one week before the visit, on Thursday at 10 a.m., through the MVC Mobile Unit appointment portal.
One important heads-up: Written tests will not be administered at the Mobile Unit, even for residents seeking an initial permit.
Some services will be offered without an appointment. Walk-up visitors may surrender license plates, purchase red graduated driver license decals or obtain handicapped, veteran or Purple Heart placards.
The local stop is designed to save residents a longer trip while putting common motor vehicle services in one convenient place. Appointment slots may be useful for anyone who knows exactly what paperwork needs attention, while the walk-up list covers several quick but necessary errands.
Englewood Cliffs officials said the borough will "continue to work with NJ MVC" to schedule additional Mobile Unit visits during 2026.
Residents with questions may call the Borough of Englewood Cliffs at 201-569-5252 or email info@englewoodcliffsnj.org. Appointments can be made at telegov.njportal.com/njmvcmobileunit.
