1 Injured In Accidental Shooting: Fair Lawn Police

A man was injured after a firearm discharged inside a Fair Lawn home. He was taken to a hospital, but no charges will be filed, police said.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — One man was injured in what police are calling an accidental shooting inside a Fair Lawn home Wednesday evening.

Police responded to a Jasper Road home at 5:26 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a report about a man with a gunshot wound.

Officers found the man, 40, of Staten Island, New York, lying on the floor upon arrival. Police said he was visiting an uncle, 72, of Fair Lawn.

When his uncle handed the victim a handgun to look at, it went off, striking the victim, police said.

The 40-year-old was taken to st. Joseph's Medical Center in Paterson. No charges will be filed, police said.
