2 Women Killed In Fair Lawn Group Home Fire
The fire destroyed the second floor of the home, authorities said.

Two women died in a fire at a Fair Lawn group home run by the Alliance Against Homelessness, Fair Lawn Police said.
Four women lived in the Berkshire Road group home, police said. The two who survived suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.
A Fair Lawn police officer suffered a leg injury while rescuing one of the women who survived, police said.

All four women were in their 50s and 60s, NJ.com reported.
The home is an independent living facility for formerly homeless people with mental illness run by the Alliance Against Homelessness. The Alliance has five homes in Bergen County.

“The staff is devastated by this,” said Executive Director David Moore. “This has been very difficult to deal with and our hearts go out to the families of the two women.”
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the blaze.
