3-Month-Old Baby Dropped By Family Member Dies Of Injuries

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — Three-month-old Reece Modzelewski, who was in the hospital with severe injuries after he was dropped by a babysitter, died Friday after his family took him off life support.

Benjamin DiFranco posted on a Go Fund Me page created to help Modzelewski and the family that "they took him off life support at noon. He died at 12:03 p.m." More than $20,500 was donated to the campaign.

A family member babysitting Reece Modzelewski accidently dropped him, NJ.com reported. The baby was "unconscious and unresponsive," Police Chief Robert Kugler said in the report.

The Saddle Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corps performed infant CPR and rushed the boy to Hackensack University Medical Center Tuesday, Kugler said.

Modzelewski was the only child of Nicole Nicastro, 34, and Mark Modzelewski, 32, of Carteret.

The Saddle Brook Police and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office will investigate the baby's death, Kugler said in the NJ.com report.
