Bergen County Man Hit By Car At Saddle Brook Acme Settles For Over $1 Million
The Hackensack man had to undergo knee and back surgery after being hit by a car at a Saddle Brook Acme in 2018, a lawsuit said.

SADDLE BROOK, NJ — A Bergen County man suffered a traumatic brain injury after he was hit by a car in a Saddle Brook Acme parking lot in 2018, a lawsuit said. Now, he has settled out of court for a combined total of over $1 million.
First reported by the New Jersey Law Journal, Richard Kunzweiler, of Hackensack, has reportedly settled his lawsuit, Kunzweiler v. Acme Markets, for a combined $1.275 million.
In 2018, Kunzweiler, then 75, was walking in the parking lot when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a Fair Lawn man, a lawsuit said. Kunzweiler not only suffered the brain injury as a result of the accident, according to the lawsuit, but also underwent surgery on his back and leg after suffering injuries to his vertebra, tibia, fibula and meniscus.

The suit was filed against Acme and the owner of the property, Night Vision of Saddle Brook and Mountain Lakes, and alleged that both were negligent for failing to have crosswalks and signage installed in the lot.
According to the Law Journal report, Kunzweiler settled with the driving for $100,000, Acme for $975,000 and Night Vision for $200,000.
