FAIR LAWN, NJ — A Special Olympics tennis medalist recently received recognition from Fair Lawn officials for his athletic accomplishments and community service.
Mayor Cristina Cutrone and the Fair Lawn Borough Council honored Michael Yanovsky during their Sept. 29 meeting, according to a borough announcement.
Yanovsky represented New Jersey at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis, earning silver in Unified Doubles. The borough said he also won two gold medals at the 2022 Special Olympics North America Tennis Championship.
Beyond tennis, Yanovsky supports Special Olympics fundraising and volunteers with Fair Lawn's STARS program, helping children with special needs to learn the fundamentals of basketball.
"Congratulations, Michael, on your achievements, sportsmanship, perseverance, and commitment to making a positive impact in our community!" the borough said.
