Bergen County Congressman Bill Pascrell is one of the Congresspeople staging a historic sit-in on the House floor to force a vote on gun control.

Pascrell, a Democrat from Paterson, posted a picture on Twitter of him during the sit-in holding a sign with the U.S. Capitol building's switchboard phone number and the social media hashtags #NoBillNoBreak and #NoFlyNoBuy, referencing the need for better gun control legislation and new regulations banning people on the United States' no-fly list from purchasing firearms.

Pascrell represents New Jersey's 9th Congressional District, which includes portions of Bergen, Passaic, and Hudson counties.

Many of New Jersey's Democratic representatives are participating in the sit-in, which began late Wednesday night.

House Republicans left the Capitol early Thursday morning after Speaker of House Paul Ryan reclaimed control at about 3 a.m. Thursday. He then adjourned this Congressional session until July 5, essentially not allowing any vote on gun control measures to occur.
