Have you ever tried authentic Turkish food?
Well, let me tell you New Milford has a great place for a quiet lunch, a classy "bring your own bottle dinner" or a large party accommodating up to 80 guests. Toros Restaurant is located at the intersection of Henley and River Roads.
Owner Huseyin Bayram has over 20 years in the restaurant business and takes pride in all three of his locations--Paterson, which opened in 1972, their Clifton restaurant which has been serving up Mediterranean cuisine for over nine years and this adventure in dining that has come to New Milford.

Toros advertises a lunch special for $10.99 plus tax and gratuities which is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Your many choices of appetizers include babagannush (smoked eggplant), hummus (mashed chickpeas) and stuffed grape leaves. An entrée and a soup or salad are also included in your lunch as well.
I ordered the red lentil soup. Lentils are one of my childhood favorites. I find it amazing how each region around the world can take the same ingredient, add their own distinct flavors and present a fabulous dish. The chicken kebabs and falafel came next. I didn’t know what falafel was. So I tried it. Ground chickpeas seasoned and deep fried. They were very good.

I was impressed with the amount of food that was on my plate. The chicken was so juicy and delicious. Accompanying it was a salad, crispy and dressed perfectly. Rice pilaf and bulgur rice sat on the sides. Their dessert menu offers up authentic baklava, need I tell you how wonderful it is? Your choices of sweet indulgent treats are plentiful.
As Toros’ menu reads, “From our homeland to your plate, we bring you a wonderful assortment of dishes prepared from family recipes that have been pleasing palates for centuries.”
Parking is at the rear of the building. Take a stroll up the sidewalk and make your way into 690 River Road. You will be greeted by Aynur and Mahmut. Take your seat and enjoy the atmosphere because they are ready to make your dining a pleasure.
Until next time, eat well.
