Yankee Pinch Hitter Makes Baseball History

Yankee Pitch Hitter Raul Ibanez did something last night that no baseball player had ever done before.

In the top of the ninth of last night's Yankee playoff game against Baltimore, my mother said "not a very exciting game tonight."

Then Yankees' pinch hitter Raul Ibanez hit a dramatic home run to tie the game 2-2.

Then in the 12th inning, he hit another home run to win the game 3-2, a walk off homer.

No one had ever done that before in baseball history.

They're calling it not only one of the greatest games in Yankee history, but one of the greatest games in post season/playoffs history.

They're calling it not only one of the greatest individual performances in Yankee history, but one of the greatest individual performances in post season/playoff history.

Raul Ibanez is 40 years old, born in New York City, to Cuban-American parents.

The press is playing up the fact he pinch hit for superstar Alex Rodriguez, missing the true significance of what happened.
