Election Guide: 38th Legislative District

Republican Mark Dipisa will try and unseat Democrats Tim Eustace or Joseph Lagana.

Republican Mark Dipisa will try and unseat one of the Democratic incumbents, Tim Eustace or Joseph Lagana, to represent the 38th Legislative District in the state Assembly in one of the most intense and politically changed state races in this year’s election.

Anthony Cappola left the race and resigned as a River Edge councilman after it was released that he had written and published a book in 2003 titled “Outrageous,” that was described as being full of “racial slurs, rants, and stereotypes.

The Bergen County Republican Organization filed suit in Passaic County and sought to replace Cappola’s spot on the ballot with Fernando Alonso and offered to cover the $100,000 cost of reprinting the ballots. Bergen County Clerk John Hogan said that the ballots had already been printed and distributed.
