Fair Lawn Alumnus Joins College Board Of Trustees

FAIR LAWN, NJ — A veteran and Bergen Community College's alumnus has started his term on the school's Board of Trustees.

Peter Zalakostas began the one-year term July 11. The position carries full voting rights on the board.

Zalakostas enrolled at the college in 2014 after serving nearly four years in Army. He served two tours of duty in Afghanistan. A Bergen graduate, he is now a history major at Columbia University.

Zalakostas plans to pursue a juris doctorate under the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill once graduated from Columbia.

While at Bergen, Zalakostas was a member of the student government association and Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges. He also joined student-led efforts to combat international human trafficking.
